Again I am asking a question that I am sure I know the answer to, but would rather be certain than proud.

If I play Rite of Replication, with the kicker, on my Lorthos, the Tidemaker can I sacrifice the creatures to Altar of Dementia before the legendary rule kicks in.

I assume this isn't possible, but figured I'd ask.

I don't THINK so, state-based effects are cleaned up before priority even passes so it's one of the fastest things in the game. I'm pretty sure legend would nuke them all before you get the chance to sac them, kinda like how you can't Sharuum a Sharuum.

You cannot sac creatures that have triggered the legendary rule


@Shadowex3: you can sharuum a sharuum, come in play effects are still put on the stack. The legendary rule resolves before these effects resolve so you can infinite ressurect your sharuums.

Venser. VENSER. Dammit I keep getting Venser and Sharuum backwards. I did it in the original thread too. Why do I keep saying Sharuum instead of venser? I need to get one of those zappy-collars they use for barking dogs or something.

Anyway wrong card names aside I'm pretty sure what happens is the copies are created and then before priority passes around the table and back to you to sac them they all get Legendocided.

It's not confusion, I know perfectly well what each of them is and does, I just can't get their bloody names right >.<
