along with giving us a new set wizards decided it was time to change up the game well only if your game is related to life-link, here goes. in the past life-link has been a sorcery speed ability meaning if your opponent is at 2 life but hits you with a life-link creature you could slip an instant in before they gained life also if you had a creature with life-link and equiped it with a loxodon war hammer it would then have double life-link, meaning if its a 5/5 double life-link and it deals dammage you gain 2x as much life as normal. but sadly this is no longer possible as wizards decided it should be an abbility faster even than an instant it doesn't go onto the stack*, it just happens which in turn means its not stackable so no more double life-link.

*the stack- for those of you who dont know what the stack is ita an immaginary place like your mana pool. whenever you play a spell (anything non-land) it goes to the stack. instants go through the stack the fastest then creatures and scorceries while a spell is on the stack it can be countered or acted in response to (much more complecated). and at the end of the turn the stack is cleared.

The loxodon warhammer doesnt say "lifelink" it just says that when this creature does damage yo ugain that much life. so i think you can still stack that with itself and with "lifelink". If you had a card with "lifelink" and somehow gave it "lifelink" again, then it wouldnt stack. at least thats how we're playing.

^this is lifelink. same as Haste = Unaffected by Summoning Sickness on older cards, or Fear = This creature can only be blocked by black and artifact creatures. more examples of this on old cards would be like Vigilance = Attacking does not cause this creature to tap, Reach = this creature can block creatures with flying as though it had flying, Exile = Remove from the game, Deathtouch = at the end of combat, bury all creatures dealt combat damage by this creature. etc.

instead of writing out the whole thing, they just created terms for these common effects. they are the same thing however.

However, (not sure if there's a card like this but) if you have a creature that says "When this creature deals damage you gain twice or half that much life" or something, then that would stack with Lifelink, allowing you to gain 1.5 or 3 times as much life.
