Since the real magic forums are down, hopefully somone can help our play group.

Does Evil Presence change targets land TO swamp... or is it a swamp as well as its other types? I think it makes the land a swamp, period.

I would agree, it would say "in additon to its other types" otherwise I think!

I took a look at the card and it would become a swamp, and lose all other abilities. we had that same question in our casual play group about a week ago, just with blue spells.

That's absolutely correct. As a rule of thumb, if it doesn't say otherwise, the game goes with the most simple and broad interpertation of the card's text.

Oh, and it actually answers your question on Gatherer if you look Evil Presence up there. Gatherer is great to pull up on the fly for most common ruling questions.
