Hello, I originally was not planning on getting into the trading card game - I was hoping to get lucky getting a pack and get some rare loot... Didn't work out how I planned. ;3
Anyways, I found out the place I bought them from holds 2x a week meetings where you can play together and I'm always up to meeting people who play WoW and I could use a hobby.
The thing is... I have NO IDEA how to play. I know you have a hero (mine is a goblin rogue) and you pick seven? cards up. I believe you also need 60 cards to make a deck.
I've read about exhausting cards... But I have no idea what that means and everything I've googled hasn't told me anything.
I plan on going to the meeting this Tuesday and see if someone would teach me. But if anyone has any good links, videos or advice i'd appreciate it. :)
Thanks in advance.

Hi!
I think there is a Online interactive guide to learn to play wowtcg in the official page... you can try that =)
The problems this last years is that there isnīt pre constructed decks, so no new rulebook appeared...
Also, you can read the rulebooks upload >>here<< (http://www.wowtcgvault.com/rules/WoW_rulebook_dow.pdf)
Hi
Welcome and hope you enjoy playing :)
Easiest way to learn is to read the official "How To" guide, which can be found on the official site (http://www.wowtcg.com/how-to-play). We can obviously answer any questions that may arise from that, but hopefully that will give you a good idea!
Also the guys at the hobby shop will not doubt be pleased to teach you, expanding their community = more people playing = more people buying cards from them! Also they MAY have an official sponsored volunteer working there, whose job it is to help new people out, run events etc !

Hello again,
Thanks for the advice, I tried to find the flash demo but it was 404'd.
I did see part of it on youtube though, and it was a big help... I'm kinda getting it LOL. I'm still not sure how you attack them and such, but I do have the general idea on how to set up a game.
I'm going to talk to the guys at the store today and hopefully one of them will teach me. I know they have a 'WoW guy' LOL. Plus I'm hoping they have a decent crowd show up to the weekly meetings, so I have people to actually play with.
I'm going to get a couple more booster packs since I'm going to wait for the new class deck to come out - I'm thinking I'm going to go with rogue goblin just because my main on WoW is a rogue. :P

Well when I went to go talk to the people at the store, they told me to come back Thursday (Today) an hour before they hold a meeting for 'New Players'.
They seemed a little stand offish when I went on Tuesday...
Not sure if it was because I went on their WoW night (I assumed this would have been the best time) and they were doing a raid. So I'm assuming that is why they didn't want to show me anything right now since the guy working there was watching over a raid and letting them know what they could and couldn't do.
I hope it's not because I'm a girl, and a really girly girl looking girl... Some people did give me a look like wtf are you doing here? >.>
Anyways, I'm going back again today and hopefully I'll learn how to play this time. I got some more booster packs when I was there on Tuesday.
I have a question though, they were really trying to convince me to get the epic box. Now, I don't mind getting it I just only have 20 dollars on me when I went there, so I couldn't buy it then anyways.
But isn't this box just... six booster packs? a mat and a card box?
I understand there is a loot card pet, but I personally don't like how the pet looks and I much prefer my core hound pup. LOL.
They also said this was the best way to start out, but I would have assumed a starter class deck would have been, since those packs could hold nothing useful and half the allys would be useless to me since I am going Horde...
Anyways, any advice is appreciated!

Yep, basically. I buy the Icecrown and Worldbreaker epic peack because here in Spain is hard to see the last sets of tcgwow... but i love the art of the cardbox :3
How did it go? I assume they were "stand offish" due to doing a raid, although no reason why you couldn't have watched to get an idea of what was going on or something.
I think the reason behind going for the epics is that the class starters are very basic and not competitive, while you could potentially get anything in the epic box. Plus a play mat is useful :)
I would be suprised if they didn't have decks they could lend you to get you started.

Much better this time, I had so much fun.
My boyfriend and I have decided to join, we did Onyxia raid twice last night.
We were using pre-made decks since we don't have great decks yet.
One time we beat the boss in six turns and the other one we wiped. :P
Everyone was really, really nice and helpful. I'll be honest most of the time when they were explaining I was a little confused but they helped me out the whole time and the raiding really helped me understand.
So now every Tuesday and Thursday we're going to come and play, I didn't even realize we were there for four hours last night.
Unfortunately they don't sell the starter deck I was originally wanting (Horde Rogue) so I'm going to get an Ally Druid deck for right now, and come june I'm going to pick up the Goblin Rogue deck.
My boyfriend picked up a Ally warrior deck, even though he's planning on getting the horde pack when it comes out in June (They only had Ally, druid, warrior and warlock available). He still got a lot of cards that will be useful if he goes horde, just he can't use the allys (so he plans on giving them to me for my druid deck).
The raids cost 2 dollars normally, but they let us come play for free. And they also gave us free cards. They said normally you win loot cards or good cards for our deck, so that is exciting!
I can't wait till Tuesday's and Thursday's now. :P

I'm glad for you =)
The only thing I see bad for playing raids is than one player cant use his decks (because may use the boss raid deck), and is rare see one of my friends want to be the raid boss xD

Haha, that sucks. I can see how that would be a problem.
So far it seems like my group doesn't mind playing raid boss, I think one guy really likes it (Though everyone teases him that he goes to easy on us, but I didn't mind last night). :P
I seriously can't wait to get my deck tonight, I love opening them up and seeing what I got. I think think they were refering to it as 'cracking' LOL. I'm sure everyone likes to see what they got.
My boyfriend got a loot card last night which was exciting since it was the pet from the elements of war (except from a random booster).
So now when I'm not studying or playing WoW online... I can play the card game. :P

Glad you had a good time - now the addiction can start :)
Be interested to hear any stories you may have as you learn the game! Also remember, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask :)

Haha, yes the addiction has started and it's a little expensive. We ended up spending over 150 dollars last week (between myself and my boyfriend).
I can't wait till my goblin rogue starter deck as well as the night elf druid one.
I did some raiding last night. (Lich king raid)
Used the hobby shops cards (I used hunter and it was pretty good actually!) - We won at turn 10
Tried using my rogue deck and my boyfriend tried using his warrior deck - We lost at turn 7
Going to play some more on Thursday as well, so hopefully we win a bit more.
I'm still not sure how to make a good deck really, like I don't know what ablities I should be using (I really like the ones I have that either ruin their resourses or exhaust their allys for good, so I'd like to get as many as those as I can... At least thats the route I am thinking of going...) But I need to figure out where my damage is coming from either allys or other abilites.

For control rogues I think is good to use daggers with poisons to deal damage
But the think is if you will use it for raids or for 1vs1 play, because there are cards than are better in some situations...

Well we had our first local tournement yesterday night.
I won 1 and lost 2.
The one I won at was also just against my boyfriend.
I need to work on my deck, not sure which direction I'd like to go either >.>
I'd like to be able to compete and be able to use it in raids, I just don't know where you get the awesome cards or how to build a deck.

Well, you can create your deck (http://www.wowtcgvault.com/CreateDeck.aspx) (need login), so we can see your deck and try to see how to improve it =)
That's what play testing is all about and why the play groups are so important :)
You build a base deck, then tweak based on how it does against certain opposition :) Also getting a deck to cover raids and tournaments may be a bit tricky... It's possibly best to have two decks (or at least lots of shared cards, but then specifics for tourny / raid content). Playing a raid is so so so different to playing another person :p
Hope youre still enjoying it tho!
