View Full Version : New Search options
I'm looking at revamping the card search page to add in more variables to make it easier to find suitable cards.
The reasoning for this is that you may want a frost card with say, untargetable, but not know if any exist. Hopefully this will then enable you guys to find and add cards you may not have known exist!
I may have to build this on to a new page, but we'll see!
Any search options you think would be useful to have, please post in here!
Thanks
Ian

would be nice to be able to search via reputation, ally type and damage type
I was thinking of adding the following:
Ally Type
Attack Type
Reputation
Rules
Professions
Talents
Race
Class
Maybe even stretch to Attack Values, Health, Cost, Def etc - so if you want a card with 3 cost, which is an Alliance Ally with elusive, it will pick them out.
Could get quite complicated so think I'm going to start making a second page for these and leave the Card Search page as it is for now!

you guys should goto the actual MTG site, i use their search engine, its far advance than this one. regardless of the fact, its still efficient when building decks, cant argue with it.

Would it be possible to have an ally type search option? Type = Mage ally, Hunter ally, etc
I have edited the CardSearch page, so that if you select type Hero or Ally, then changing the "Class" dropdown will filter these results.
So Hero + Druid = only druid heros
Ally + Mage + Horde = only horde ally mages.
Hope that's ok for now! I want to write an FAQ at somepoint to get all these little search options down in text :p

rly love the deck builder and card search function you have here. i just have one random suggestion..
not the suggestion belongs here.. or if my suggestion is actually plausible. (feel free to move it as u deem fit)
could we have a 'quick pool' (i cant think of another name for it right now im sure you'll find a better one) where you can temporarily click and deposit cards into. these cards do not count toward the main deck. cards can enter or leave this pool from/towards the main deck or sideboard.
these cards could be temporarily stored there and saves the trouble of searching for them again in case we delete them from the deck. perhaps, the 'x' button would just deposit cards into quick pool, and upon save and exit the pool empties so you don't have to store too much unnecessary information.
what could be great would be no need to refresh the whole page, just the list of cards in each pool (main deck, side board, 'quick pool') so when you do the action there's minimal loading time.
i think the 'quick pool' would be a really nifty tool for deck-building because we tend to take time crafting the deck and switch cards in and out of sideboard/main deck etc.
Hey Momok,
In reply to your original post (which got emailed to me), I was looking at a drag / drop side board / main deck using jQuery, but with the current design, it's not that easy to do (jQuery dislikes tables from my experiments!), but I agree, it's a good idea. I may look at other avenues to do this, as it's been suggested before.
In regards to your second suggestion, it sounds like an interesting idea! I'll ahve to have a think about that one, as it's quite a big change :) I'm thinking about rebuiding the deck building process anyway, so maybe I can add that in while I'm prototyping it.
Any other suggestions you have to refine the deck building process are welcome. The main one atm is to keep users on the card search page instead of going from there back to edit deck each time.
Cheers
Ian

that sounds really cool.
btw the reason y i edited my post was because after i thought about it, the alternative probably would be less complex to code and faces less restrictions/constraints.
well but what do i know about coding.. seems like the alternative is tough too. :p if you do implement something like that i'd be really looking forward to it! :D
