Looking for a blue/black deck idea

Anyone got any suggestions?

I've got one of the blue M10 starter decks, and instead of disassembling it, I want to make it into something useful.


BTW, I didn't just go out and buy it with no ideas, I bought one of the variety packs from a website and got a box of boosters, the 5 starters, and a fat pack.


I just started MTG again after being away from it for awhile, so I have same kamigawa, some shards, and a crap-ton of M10. I've also got like, 50 zendikar cards from a draft.

Any ideas/suggestions?

I kinda wanna do control, but I want to use some black creatures to deal damage as well.

Hmm.... I dunno, I recently started playing magic again as well and had started with a solider deck so let me give you some advice. Soliders are a great deck to start. I honestly played mono-white soliders so its up to you but, this is my deck list:

4x Elite Vanguard
4x Kazandu Blademaster
4x Honor of the pure
4x Brave the elements
4x Path to Exile
4x Akrasan Squires
3x Ranger of Eos
3x Kor Aeronauts
2x Veteran Swordsmith
2x Elspeth Knight-Errant
2x Ajani Goldmane
2x Captain of the Watch

I did pretty well with this deck. I hope this helps you out.

I just started again after a long absence too (since 2001, around Planeshift), and I too had an initial urge to build blue/black control.

This is what I'm running so far. By the sounds of it you're looking for more blue with a bit of black, where mine's mainly black with a bit of blue. But if it gives you any ideas it could be worth a look.
