I play WoW online and have bought many card packs to find loot cards but can never bring myself to throw away the cards. I feel its a waste and I think I'd enjoy playing it but I don't know anyone to play with so I just put the cards aside. Now I want to organize the cards and build decks and understand the game so I can look for people in my area who do play.

So right now I would love if anyone could give me tips on how to sort the cards, which to keep and which to throw away (or where I can trade/donate). I have 2 starter packs, Drums of War and Heroes of Azeroth. When new starter decks come out do I need to buy them? Do I sort out the cards by the set it came from (Drums of War, etc) or are they all added to a central deck. I have a lot of doubles, which cards should I keep more than one of?

On the site here it talks about decks, I assume that you create multiple decks from your collection to play in different situations? Or do you make one deck and all the cards stay there and can't be moved to other decks?

I'm going to learn it slowly so right now I just need to know what type of cards to keep and if they are all mixed or do I separate the heroes from the quests from the skills. Also does the rarity reflect the value of a card in play? Would you try to stock your deck with more blue/green cards than white? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi SweetChastity,

For organizing the cards, they should all have a number on the bottom of the card, so I'd recommend buying a few binders and ordering them in number order. A binder for each set works.

I wouldn't bother throwing any cards away, you never know when you might need one :-) always handy for trades as well.

Drums of War and Heroes of Azeroth are pretty old sets, so I doubt you'd be able to make any massively competitive decks out of them. But they are good to learn how to play!

The essence of any TCG (tradind card game) is that you build a "deck" from your cards, which you then use in tournaments/competitions/casual play etc. You can build lots of different types of decks, but of course, different tournaments etc have different rules. For instance, one tournament may only let you use cards from the latest set.

A deck compromises of 1x hero, then whatever combination of allys, quests, abilities, weapons etc you want, upto 60 cards. This is why there is so much variation in the game, as theres hundreds of cards, so a massive amount of possibilities :) Take a look at some of the decks on this site, using the deck search page (http://wowtcgvault.com/DeckSearch.aspx).

There is a great tutorial on the official WoW TCG site, which can be found here (http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/wow/en/howtoplay/default.aspx). It's pretty cool and explains fairly well. Of course if you have any more questions, don't hesitate to come back here and someone can probably help you out!

It's also worth mentioning that there is a new set coming out this month, ScourgeWar in relation to the WOTLK expansion for WoW. There are many sneak peek events around the world, so there may be one near you. It would be worth going along, as you'd get to use the new cards and you'd learn a MASSIVE amount from current players.

I expect your local card game shop will probably hold an event, where abouts do you live?

Cheers

Ian
