Counterspell vs. double card

When ever a double card(you know, one with 2 spells on it)comes into play, does a counterspell only counter one of those spells, or both?

you can only play one of the spells from split cards, not both.

you can play both spells. I think its in ravnica block or the block before it. but as for countering both I dont know for sure. Seras before you reply back check it out first ok.

please quote the ruling on which you are basing your statement.

when a card is played it becomes a spell on the stack. with split cards, once you've played one half, you can no longer cast another spell from the same card since the card has already been played.

the comprehensive rules state:

"505.2. In every zone except the stack, split cards have two sets of characteristics and two converted mana costs. As long as a split card is a spell on the stack, only the characteristics of the half being played exist. The other half’s characteristics are treated as though they didn’t exist. "

I have found no rulings that contradict this. I look forward to read your source.

Split cards cannot have both abilities played at once. Only time you play two with one card is with cascade. In order to counter both, you need two counters or a double negative.
